Celtic were in possession of the ball in their own half and put the ball out of play because of an injury to their own player.Motherwell threw the ball down the touchline but instead of letting the home side recollect the ball, James Scott took possession and started running towards goal. His shot was saved by Scott Bain but Ariyibi fired in the follow up to make it 2-1.Players from both sides pushed and shoved amid loud boos which rained down from the stands.Although there is nothing in the rules to prevent what Motherwell did, many fans on Twitter criticised the move as poor sportsmanship. It did not impact the overall result, though, as Brendan Rodgers side went on to win 4-1. Scott Sinclair and Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring in the first half to put Celtic ahead.Edouard got his second two minutes from time before a fourth was scored by Oliver Burke.Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: The goal is so disappointing. Referees get a lot of stick up here and a lot of criticism, but today its about players… Okay, they make a mistake, but Motherwell have a chance to rectify that and dont. Here is what Twitter had to say on social media after the incident.
